Having bypassed the initial turbulence of the COVID-19 pandemic and the accompanying digital transformation, ahead lie new challenges for Chief Human Resources Officers (CHROs) including: talent scarcity, upskilling and reskilling, new compliance standards and retention, among others. Mexico Business News has invited industry leaders from Accenture, Nestlé and Clara to address the rise of the CHRO, its importance to the continued functionality to company operations and how the role will evolve in 2022 and beyond.

CHROs were pivotal to the successful business transformation of companies over the past two years as they spearheaded multiple organizational challenges. The implementation and continued refinement of new work models that consider employee wellness and additional regulatory compliance standards were the main focus of CHROs in 2021. This was on top of other business obstacles such as digitalization, cybersecurity and acute shifts in demand. In the post-pandemic era, CHROs will be confronted with both new aspects of previous concerns and entirely new challenges.

In 2022, CHROs will be tasked with readjusting their work models in correspondence to a call back to the office and or cementing the official guidelines for hybrid and remote work. Moreover, as demanded by the digital transformation, CHROs will need to consider engendering an internal cybersecurity culture and nurturing the digital skills of their employees as needed to compete in a growing digital economy. Overshadowing these priorities is the reformulation of their company’s value proposition, which relates not only to retaining existing talent but also to attracting new, qualified talent. Overall, CHROs will be cornerstones of their company’s development and permeance.

Mexico Talent Forum, now hosted on Zoom, will break geographical barriers and welcome global industry leaders to discuss the most pressing labor trends, while simultaneously minimizing COVID-19 related risks or possible outbreaks. The event is organized by Mexico Business, which hosts conferences on Mexico’s most important industries and in 2021 welcomed 2,136 industry-shaping companies and 758 speakers to 13 industry-leading conferences.
