Scotiabank Mexico introduced the Women’s Talent Leadership Academy to advance gender diversity and inclusion in leadership roles within the institution. The program aims to equip women with the necessary tools to take on senior positions. So far, it has impacted approximately 300 women, reports Scotiabank.

With more than 50% of its employees being women, Scotiabank reinforces its commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) by offering this program. The initiative consists of three key subprograms: Women in Leadership, designed to foster networking opportunities for women; Diplomado Liderazgo Consciente, which provides tailored coaching for women transitioning to higher-level responsibilities; and Empowering Women Regional, aimed at cultivating global leadership skills.

“At Scotiabank, we believe the most important thing is the talent of individuals, regardless of gender, race, age, or sexual orientation,” says Jenny Bernal, Director of Talent Management and Organizational Development, Scotiabank Mexico. According to McKinsey & Company’s 2023 report Diversity Matters More Than Ever: The Case for Holistic Impact, companies with greater gender diversity are 39% more likely to outperform their less diverse counterparts financially. The study shows that organizations leading this change not only improve their culture but also gain a competitive advantage in the market.

“We are convinced that diverse talent fosters the creation of multidisciplinary teams, which significantly contributes to strategic decision-making and results in better outcomes,” emphasizes Adrián Otero, CEO, Scotiabank Mexico. The launch of the Women’s Talent Leadership Academy is part of Scotiabank’s 20-year DEI strategy, which initially focused on gender equity.
