Mexico is making progress in very important areas of artificial intelligence, but not all of them. Shoppers are more cautious with their finances in the wake of COVID-19, according to a study by Offerwise and Google. In addition, Kolors is looking to offer a new experience to bus passengers.

Mexico Advances in Robot Adoption

Mexico ranks third in the world in terms of robot implementations. This growth is associated with nearshoring, a phenomenon whereby companies move part of their operations to nearby countries to reduce costs and take advantage of their location. Currently, the manufacturing sector is the one that has promoted the most the implementation of robots and automation systems. However, experts say that Mexico has not made significant progress in other areas of artificial intelligence.

 

COVID-19 Altered Behavior of Mexican Consumers: Google

 

COVID-19 marks a before and after regarding consumer behavior as it transformed how buyers relate to businesses, reports a study conducted by Offerwise and Google. The study reviews consumer behavior in Mexico before, during and after the pandemic, revealing that shoppers are now more cautious with their finances and purchasing. 

 

Kolors Aims to Transform Transportation With New Technologies and Data

 

A Mexican startup seeks to offer intercity mobility buses through data digitization. The company assures that there are opportunities within the transportation sector, since companies have been using the same technology for decades. With new tools, it will be possible to offer a user experience like never before. 

 

In its first 28 months, Kolors has transported more than 2.3 million passengers. By 2023, the company expects to carry another 2.1 million passengers.

 

AT&T Mexico Partners to Develop 5G Technology for Private Networks

 

In an effort to hasten the implementation of private network technologies across the Mexican industry, AT&T Mexico partnered with Qualcomm, Celona, Axity and Veea to test 5G in its technology. According to AT&T Mexico, this connection solution is a crucial step toward Industry 4.0 as private networks provide better predictability, lower latency and realiable broadband connectivity.

 

US, Mexico Push Modern Technology to Combat Drug Crisis

Ken Salazar, US Ambassador to Mexico, announced that efforts to reduce drug trafficking under the Border XXI Century initiative will employ state-of-the-art technology that will not only stop the illegal flow of drugs, but will also increase trade between the two nations. "Every day we have more tools to combat arms and narcotics trafficking. Under our bilateral Border XXI Century initiative, we employ modern technology to facilitate trade while improving security," Salazar wrote on his Twitter account.
