Aeroméxico pilots have reached an agreement on a new salary and contract review, effectively averting a planned strike that was set to begin on Oct. 8. The proposed contract, which was approved by the majority of pilots during a recent assembly, includes a total increase of over 20% in salary and benefits.

The agreement features a direct salary increase of 7.5%, along with a 12.5% improvement in various other contract-related areas, aimed at boosting the earnings of the 1,491 pilots employed by Aeroméxico. The Mexican Pilots Union (ASPA) leadership presented the proposal after complex negotiations with the airline.

“We once again recognize the efforts of the labor and judicial authorities who intervened in this process,” said ASPA in a statement. The union emphasized its commitment to internal democratic processes, underscoring that decision-making is rooted in respect for the pilots’ choices.

The ratification process will take place over the next 20 days. During the first 10 days, the contract will be made available for pilots to review. After this period, pilots will have an additional 10 days to vote in private consultations, where they can express their approval or disapproval of the contract, as stated in the union’s press release.
