AICM Traffic Declines to 25.6 Million Amid 2.9% Drop

The Mexico City International Airport (AICM) reported a 2.9% year-over-year decline in passenger traffic during the first seven months of 2025, totaling 25.6 million travelers. This compares to 26.4 million passengers during the same period in 2024, according to official airport figures.

Domestic traffic accounted for 15,730,970 passengers,  down 5.2% from 16,597,414 in January–July 2024. International passengers totaled 9,935,808, a 1.0% decrease from 9,842,101 a year earlier.

March recorded the highest volume of domestic travelers with 2,297,610 passengers, while July saw the peak in international travel, registering 1,639,154 passengers. July 28 marked the busiest day of the year to date, with 137,637 passengers handled.

Aircraft operations also declined, with 183,061 flights from January to July 2025, a 3.3% decrease compared to 189,242 operations during the same period in 2024.

In contrast, cargo operations grew, rising 5.8% to 143,118.2 metric tons in the first seven months of 2025, compared to 135,270.8 metric tons in 2024. Terminal 1 handled 29,100.1 metric tons, and Terminal 2 processed 95,617.5 metric tons.
