Flair Airlines Debuts Mexico City Routes, Eyes FIFA 2026 Demand
Flair Airlines, the Canadian low-cost carrier, launched its first flights to Mexico City International Airport (AICM) on Oct. 27, marking the first new airline to enter the airport in six years. The inaugural flight from Vancouver, carrying 189 passengers, arrived at 11:25 p.m., and a second route from Toronto is set to begin Oct. 28. Passengers were greeted by officials from the Mexico City Tourism Secretariat and Rossana Capdepont, Flair’s international operations manager.
Entering Mexico City was a challenge, Capdepont said. “It’s not easy to access this large airport, but today it becomes reality. Our first flight is full, and the outbound flight will carry 115 passengers—an encouraging start,” she noted.
Flair Airlines will operate year-round, six days a week, with three weekly flights from Vancouver and three from Toronto; Thursday is the only day without service. Flights arrive at 11:45 p.m., spend an hour on the ground, and depart at 12:45 a.m. back to Canada.
Capdepont highlighted the upcoming FIFA 2026 World Cup as a strategic driver. “We timed this launch with FIFA 2026 in mind. With both routes, we anticipate strong passenger demand during the event,” she said.
Flair currently operates a fleet of 20 aircraft, serving destinations in Latin America including Kingston, Punta Cana, and Montego Bay, Jamaica.
