LATAM Airlines Named Among World's Most Sustainable Airlines
LATAM Airlines Group has been included in the Sustainability Yearbook 2025 by S&P Global, which recognizes companies with the highest sustainability performance globally. To qualify, companies must rank in the top 15% of their industry in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA). In the 2025 edition, over 7,690 companies were evaluated, with 780 making the list. Within the airline sector, only six companies were included. LATAM Airlines Group ranked as the most sustainable airline in the Americas and fifth worldwide.
The airline’s sustainability strategy is built on three pillars: Climate Change, Circular Economy, and Shared Value. Its primary goals include achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, eliminating single-use plastics, and reducing waste sent to landfills. Since 2020, LATAM has compensated for over 1.9Mt of CO2 and contributed to conserving more than 300,000ha of flooded savannas in Colombia, a key carbon-capturing ecosystem. It has also reduced single-use plastic consumption by 97%, equivalent to over 1,700t.
Through its Avión Solidario program, LATAM has provided free transportation for more than 6,660 people and 779t of cargo since 2021. The program, which supports humanitarian initiatives, has partnered with nearly 50 organizations across five South American countries, including Teletón, Bomberos de Chile, and Coaniquem.
