Mexicana de Aviación Resumes Campeche Flights, Ends 30-Day Pause
Mexicana de Aviación has resumed operations on its route between Felipe Ángeles International Airport (AIFA) and Campeche after nearly a 30-day suspension. This marks the airline's second route reactivation in 2025, following the cancellation of eight routes in early January.
On Feb. 9, Mexicana Flight 1700 departed AIFA at 7:40 AM aboard a Boeing 737-800, carrying tour operators and journalists. After a 75-minute flight, the aircraft landed at Campeche's Alberto Acuña Ongay International Airport.
The airline will now operate three weekly flights on this route—on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Sundays. This complements the two weekly flights offered by Aeroméxico to the same destination. The decision to resume services follows a “strategic reduction” in Mexicana's domestic routes as the airline transitions from leased aircraft to its own fleet.
Mexicana de Aviación’s service suspension in January impacted several domestic routes, prompting the airline to prioritize fleet operations and reallocate aircraft to other destinations. The reopening of the Campeche route is part of Mexicana’s strategy to enhance connectivity in key tourist destinations. The first route reinstated after the suspension was to Ixtapa Zihuatanejo, another popular tourist destination.
"We are focused on offering more options for our passengers. This is an important step in the airline’s recovery and our efforts to meet the growing demand for domestic travel," said a company spokesperson.
