Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte (OMA), in partnership with VINCI Airports, officially inaugurated a new terminal building and fully remodeled concourse at Ciudad Juárez International Airport (CJS) following an investment of MX$828.4 million (US$48.5 million). The announcement was made on Aug. 26, 2025, during a public event attended by local and state officials.

Ricardo Dueñas Espriú, CEO, OMA,  explained that the development addresses the growing demand for air connectivity in Ciudad Juarez. “What we are seeing in this city is significant economic activity, and that’s why we have moved forward with investments of this scale,” he said.

The expansion adds 3,800 square meters to the terminal, increasing annual capacity to 2.6 million passengers and enabling the processing of up to 1,386 passengers per hour. The project also generated over 380 direct jobs, boosting local economic activity.

Between 2016 and 2024, OMA invested approximately MX$2 billion in CJS. “Our group remains focused on maintaining safety standards, enhancing the user experience, ensuring operational efficiency, complying with regulations, protecting the environment, and advancing sustainable development,” Dueñas Espriú added.

The airport currently offers passenger routes to 12 domestic destinations and supports cargo operations with DHL and Aeronaves TSM. Airlines serving the facility include Viva, Volaris, Aeroméxico, and TAR.

Looking ahead, OMA plans an additional MX$1.2 billion investment from 2026 to 2030 to expand the check-in area and concourse, increase capacity to 2.9 million passengers annually, reconfigure baggage claim, build new access roads, integrate advanced technology, and improve accessibility for passengers with disabilities.

Governor María Eugenia Campos Galván highlighted the importance of expanding air connectivity to strengthen regional economic development. “We are ready to cooperate with the private sector and local governments to improve connectivity,” she said.
