Volaris and TagAirlines have signed a codeshare agreement to enhance air connectivity between Mexico and Central America.  The announcement was made during the Tianguis Turístico México 2025, held in Tijuana.

The agreement allows both airlines to market flights operated by the other under their respective airline codes. Operations under this arrangement are expected to begin in the second half of 2025, pending regulatory approvals.

Enrique Beltranena, Executive President and CEO, Volaris, and Marcela Toriello, President and CEO, TagAirlines, signed the agreement. The partnership will enable integrated ticketing and baggage handling.

“With this agreement, we are expanding our network and presence in Central America for the benefit of our customers. It will also improve air connectivity between Mexico, Guatemala, and Central America, which is crucial for promoting greater economic development that translates into better opportunities and quality of life in local communities.”  said Beltranena.

Toriello described the agreement as a milestone for regional integration. “For the TagAirlines family, today is a great day. This agreement with Volaris will strengthen air connectivity between Central America and Mexico, offering passengers a broader and improved range of travel options across destinations served by both airlines,” she said.

The codeshare agreement will give Volaris customers access to more than 11 destinations served by TagAirlines in Guatemala, Honduras, Belize, El Salvador, and southern Mexico. Similarly, TagAirlines passengers will gain access to Volaris’ extensive network across Mexico, the United States, and parts of Central and South America, including key cultural and tourist destinations such as Tikal, Flores, and the Riviera Maya.

A joint statement from both airlines highlighted the customer benefits of the partnership. These include the ability to purchase combined itineraries in a single transaction, check baggage through to the final destination, and access enhanced connection options throughout the region.

“This alliance will simplify the booking and check-in process for travelers, ensuring a smoother, more comfortable, and more seamless travel experience,” added Beltranena.
