Grupo Bimbo Advocates for Enhanced Sustainability Principles
Rafael Pamias, Director General, Grupo Bimbo, headlined Expansion Magazine's inaugural ESG Summit, advocating for enhanced sustainability principles in business. The event fostered dialogue among industry leaders, focusing on global sustainability challenges.
During his keynote address, Pamias underscored Grupo Bimbo's commitment to sustainability, highlighting its latest global strategy, "Feeding a Better World," structured around three core priorities: For You, For Life, and For Nature. "For Grupo Bimbo, it is imperative that our governance ensures alignment with our beliefs, philosophy, and ethical principles, which we refer to as the Bimbo Way," stated Pamias.
Addressing Grupo Bimbo's Regenerative Agriculture program, aimed at sourcing 100% of key ingredients sustainably by 2050, Pamias stressed efforts to educate farmers on sustainable practices. This initiative, he noted, benefits biodiversity and supports resilient food systems while preserving land integrity. As of 2023, Grupo Bimbo has approximately 170,000ha under sustainable cultivation.
Reflecting on his recent appointment as director general and the transition of Daniel Servitje to Executive Chairman, Pamias outlined a meticulous plan guiding the leadership change, affirming the commitment to Grupo Bimbo's nearly 80-year legacy of success. "I envision our company as highly productive, 100% sustainable, and deeply human," he said.
