Ford has introduced hybrid versions of its Territory SUV in Mexico as part of a mid-cycle update, targeting competitors like the Toyota RAV4, Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, Honda HR-V, and emerging Chinese brands. The Trend and Titanium hybrids are priced at MX$719,900 (US$40,681) and MX$789,900 (US$44,669), with an additional MX$20,000 incentive available in October.
Elizabeth López, Ford Mexico’s director of Marketing and Product Strategy, told Expansión, “The Territory is one of our top-selling models, and these hybrids allow us to reach new customers.” The launch focuses on families seeking spacious, efficient vehicles at a more accessible price than higher-end models such as the Escape.
The hybrid variants pair a 1.5-liter engine with an electric motor, producing 241 horsepower combined and an estimated range of up to 1,200 kilometers per tank. The facelift features a redesigned grille, LED headlights, and a light bar on the Titanium trim. Interior upgrades include a 12-inch touchscreen in the Trend and a full 12-inch digital cluster in the Titanium.
Ford leverages Chinese manufacturing to price the Territory competitively against rivals such as the RAV4, which starts at MX$816,800 with long waiting lists. Between January and August 2025, Ford sold 11,200 compact SUVs in Mexico, with the Territory accounting for 8,310 units, including 810 hybrids.
