General Motors México has appointed Kathia Muñoz as its new Director of Communications and Public Relations, effective Sep. 1, 2025. Muñoz will also join the company’s Executive Committee, reporting directly to Paco Garza, President and CEO, GM de México.

The announcement followed the departure of Tere Cid, who led GM’s communications in Mexico during the final stage of her 18-year tenure. Muñoz returned to GM after a professional hiatus, during which she served as Director of External Communications and Social Media at AT&T Mexico.

Muñoz previously worked at GM de México for 12 years in the same department she will now lead, contributing to functions including post-sales advertising. Her return is seen as a strategic move to incorporate communication strategies developed in other sectors into GM’s current platform.

GM emphasized that Muñoz will be responsible for developing and executing communication strategies across digital platforms and ensuring brand alignment across the company’s automotive lines in Mexico. The goal is to strengthen GM’s reputation and engagement with both media and consumers through improved messaging and coordination.

"Her extensive experience, strategic vision, and deep understanding of both the industry and our company will be key to continuing to position General Motors as a major player in the Mexican automotive sector," said Paco Garza.
