Hyundai will sell its 2026 Palisade exclusively as a hybrid, discontinuing the gasoline version to meet growing demand for hybrid SUVs and strengthen competitiveness in the segment. The move expands Hyundai’s electrified lineup in Mexico, which now includes the Elantra, Tucson, Santa Fe, and Palisade.

“We are focusing on clean energy and strengthening our hybrid lineup, especially in the SUV segment,” said Asdriel León, Product Manager, Hyundai Motor de México. He noted that consumer preferences are shifting toward vehicles that combine power and fuel efficiency without relying on charging infrastructure.

The Palisade Hybrid features a 2.5-liter turbo engine paired with a hybrid system and all-wheel drive. Diego Espinosa, Product Senior Specialist, said the drivetrain delivers 353 lb-ft of torque and 43 additional horsepower over the previous generation.

The SUV’s dimensions have grown 65 mm in length and 55 mm in height, increasing interior space. Updates include dual panoramic roofs, dual displays, adjustable ambient lighting, ventilated and heated seats across three rows, 20-inch two-tone wheels, and full LED lighting.

The Palisade Hybrid will be offered in a single Limited Tech trim, priced at MX$1.2 million (US$69,600), and will compete directly with the Toyota Highlander Hybrid. It will be available in Mexico starting Nov. 3.

Hyundai reported a 25% year-on-year increase in hybrid sales in Mexico through September 2025. “We are growing alongside our customers. For now, we have covered the most important segments, but we will evaluate additional hybrid options in the future,” León said.
