Isuzu Motors de México has set a new sales target of 10,000 units per year by 2030, representing a 66% increase over its 2025 forecast of 6,000 units. The announcement was made during the company's 20th anniversary celebration, where executives outlined strategic plans to introduce new product lines and expand local production capabilities.
The company currently assembles commercial trucks in Cuautitlan, State of Mexico, producing 1,800 units in 2023 exclusively for the domestic market. The plant is now undergoing expansion to double its capacity.
“Our medium- and long-term goal is to achieve 10,000 annual sales by 2030,” said Yoshihiko Watanabe, President and CEO, Isuzu Motors de México. This growth aligns with the broader strategic partnership between Isuzu and Mitsubishi.
Shigeru Wakabayashi, Executive Vice President, Mitsubishi Corporation, highlighted Mexico’s rapid embrace of the Japanese “cab-over” truck design: “Today, over 60% of the light and medium truck market uses cab-over models. This transformation was made possible by your efforts,” he told attendees.
Alongside ramping up production and rolling out new models, Isuzu is also increasing its focus on electromobility, although no specific timeline for electric vehicles was provided.
The National Association of Private Transport (ANTP) also took part in the celebration. Alex Theissen Long, the association’s president, remarked, “When Isuzu first entered the market, there was a clear gap. Today, they set the standard in their segment.”
The anniversary event included traditional Japanese rituals such as a sake toast and a symbolic tuna-cutting ceremony. A 14th-century samurai statue was also presented, embodying courage, loyalty, and perseverance—qualities Isuzu said mirror its journey in Mexico: “Challenging, yet steady.”
