Volkswagen will begin selling original auto parts in Mexico through an official store on Mercado Libre starting Sept. 10, 2025. The initial catalog will feature more than 1,500 parts, with plans to expand to 6,000 within two and a half years by integrating its full network of 166 dealerships nationwide.

“The alliance with Mercado Libre responds to the need to be much closer to our customers. Mercado Libre is a benchmark in e-commerce,” said Rodrigo Ruiz, commercial director of Aftersales, Grupo Volkswagen. The platform will offer a range of parts from maintenance and wear items to collision and safety accessories, all guaranteed as original Volkswagen products.

Initially, 30 dealerships will participate as sellers on the official store, responsible for publishing and dispatching their own inventory. Some items will also be available through Mercado Libre’s “Full” program, which centralizes inventory in its warehouses for faster delivery. Ruiz explained, “Each dealership sets its own offer, allowing customers to find multiple options for the same part under different pricing conditions.”

The official store will be featured in the “Official Stores” section under the tag “Tienda Oficial Volkswagen,” ensuring authenticity. “By being on this platform, we eliminate the risk of counterfeit products because we are the only official seller of original parts,” Ruiz emphasized.

The initiative will also help move slow-selling inventory across regions, especially for vehicles aged eight to 10 years. “This increases availability because a hard-to-find part in northern Mexico can be located in Mexico City and shipped securely,” Ruiz noted.

Volkswagen plans to expand the catalog to 2,500 parts by the end of 2025 and to 6,000 parts—including more collision and engine components—within two and a half years. Parts sold through the store will carry warranties: one year for parts and accessories, six months for wear items, and 30 days for collision components. “Customers will have clear information about warranty and product specifications before purchase,” Ruiz said.

The digital channel complements, rather than replaces, physical dealerships. “We do not intend to replace traditional channels but to reach a large vehicle fleet seeking convenience and speed,” Volkswagen representatives explained.

Online searches for auto parts played a key role in the decision. Mercado Libre registers millions of monthly queries in the automotive parts category in Mexico. “Customer consumption changes daily; technology platforms are not only useful but increasingly reliable and far-reaching,” Ruiz said.

Through its Brand Protection program, Volkswagen will monitor and report unauthorized sellers to ensure only original parts are visible. Ruiz concluded, “Our goal is to make it easy: customers buy with certainty, receive their order quickly, and know they have factory warranty. That is the value proposition we are building with Mercado Libre.”
