Huawei Cloud to Launch First Local Hyperscale Cloud in Mexico
Huawei Cloud is unveiling plans to expand its technology-digital infrastructure, foster local innovation, and strengthen strategic alliances. The company will launch the first local hyperscale cloud in Mexico, equipped with three Availability Zones and Tier 3+ data centres.
"Huawei Cloud's growth in Mexico has been driven by listening to our customers and developing innovative solutions that enable regional and global expansion," says Ben You, CEO, of Huawei Cloud Mexico. Since 2019, Huawei Cloud has invested over MX$1.3 billion (US$63.9 million) in data center infrastructure in Mexico, as part of its strategy to consolidate the national digital economy.
Huawei Cloud, a division of Huawei Technologies focused on developing cloud solutions, has been operating in Mexico for over two decades, playing an important part in the digital transformation of sectors such as education, finance, and manufacturing. As the adoption of digital technologies becomes increasingly crucial for competitiveness, the company has implemented new solutions based on AI, big data and advanced cloud technologies, aligning with the growing demand for digitalization and technology services in Mexico.
The company’s first local hyperscale cloud in Mexico, which will be equipped with three Availability Zones and Tier 3+ data centres, aims to guarantee a latency of 25ms in Mexico and 50ms in North America and the Caribbean.
With this, according to the company, users will experience extremely fast response times when accessing cloud services, which is mainly beneficial for applications that require real-time processing, such as video conferencing, e-commerce, or financial applications.
The company also presented the Huawei Cloud Stack 8.5 (HCS 8.5) solution, designed to offer advanced big data and AI-powered database management tools, serving more than 1,000 customers in the country.
The company also strengthened its partner ecosystem with over 300 local companies and 20 strategic allies from China. It also implemented the AI Thousand Talent Plan in collaboration with Infotec, which aims to train over 1,000 developers in AI technologies and build a strong talent pool for the local ecosystem.
"To achieve this goal, we have established partnerships with over 30 universities nationwide, enabling the creation of 10 specialised AI courses, impacting thousands of developers across Mexico," the company tells El Economista.
