Meta’s AI model Llama has achieved significant adoption, with over 650 million downloads since its launch in February 2023, according to the company. Downloads doubled over the past three months, averaging about 1 million per day, with Mexico being one of the two countries leading in downloads.

Mark Zuckerberg, CEO, Meta, says that the company is investing billions in AI development. The latest iteration, Llama 3.1, is designed to compete with offerings from OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic. Meta claims it is among the most advanced AI models available. The company adds that it is seeing a boom in licensing approvals, particularly in Latin America, Asia-Pacific, and the European Union.

The widespread adoption of Llama is supported by Meta’s collaboration with partners across the hardware and software ecosystem, reports Wired. These include AWS, AMD, Microsoft Azure, Databricks, Dell, Google Cloud, and NVIDIA. According to Meta, this network of partners ensures that Llama can be deployed across diverse environments.

Meta anticipates a shift from text-based AI interactions to voice-driven applications by 2025. Enhanced voice models, already integrated into Meta's apps, are expected to become more conversational and functional. The company is also exploring video-based AI tools. In October, Meta announced Meta Movie Gen, a research model for generating and editing video content. These innovations aim to broaden accessibility and capabilities for creative industries.
