Tecnológico de Monterrey, Meta, and the Ministry of Economy launched PotencIA Mx, an accelerator designed to help Mexican startups and SMEs to integrate AI into operations to improve efficiency and identify new business opportunities.

"This initiative represents the democratization of one of the innovations that will transform the global economic dynamic in the coming years," says Íñigo Fernández, Director of Public Policy, Meta, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. According to research conducted by Morning Consult, nine out of 10 SMEs consider Meta solutions essential for their business survival.

PotencIA Mx addresses the challenges Mexican companies face in accessing advanced technology and specialized talent for AI adoption. The accelerator offers technical and strategic support to integrate large language models (LLMs) such as Meta's Llama into business processes.

Supported by the Ministry of Science, Humanities, Technology, and Innovation, the partnership aims to combine academic knowledge, technological innovation, and government backing to strengthen the Mexican entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The program promotes responsible AI adoption, enabling companies of different sizes to test technology and evaluate its impact on operational efficiency, product innovation, and process optimization. This initiative aligns with a global trend in which AI is not only a tool but a strategic element reshaping business models and value chains.

The accelerator is organized in three phases:

Bootcamp: Selected companies participate in an intensive event in November 2025 in Mexico City or through a multi-site format. The program includes workshops, conferences, and mentoring focused on AI and business development.

Acceleration: A group of startups and SMEs advances to a multi-month program providing personalized mentoring and workshops addressing specific growth needs, process optimization, and product scaling.

Demo Day and Awards: Participants present projects to investors and ecosystem experts. Two winners are selected: one SME receives soft landing services to expand into new markets, and one startup receives an international business trip to explore global opportunities.

Josué Omar Delgado, Co-Founder and CIO, incMTY, says the connection with global corporations provides an opportunity to accelerate innovation and enhance competitiveness for Mexican companies. Companies must be Mexican-owned, seek process efficiency, and have an internal technology team to participate.

The program also focuses on building internal capabilities by transferring knowledge in AI development and application. This addresses the increasing demand from SMEs for advanced technology to maintain competitiveness in increasingly digitalized and global markets.
