Samsung Mexico and Google have launched a collaboration through the Expande lo Increíble de México (Spread Mexico’s Incredible Features) campaign. This initiative uses Google’s Gemini AI model integrated into the Galaxy AI platform to boost economic activity in the country's culture, gastronomy, and tourism sectors, which represent a significant portion of the national Gross Domestic Product (GDP).

“With Expande lo increíble de México, Samsung unites cutting-edge technology with sectors that drive economic growth and helps strengthen national identity through the things we all enjoy: gastronomy, culture, and tourism,” says Karen Goldberg, Senior Marketing Director for the Mobile Division, Samsung Electronics Mexico. Goldberg also highlights the company's intent to align its technological innovations with the country's economic engines.

The culture, gastronomy, and tourism industries contribute about 13% of Mexico's GDP. The tourism sector alone makes up 8.6% of the national GDP. Furthermore, the gastronomy industry is a highly fragmented ecosystem composed of over 4.8 million economic units, according to the latest Economic Census of the Restaurant Industry in Mexico.

By focusing efforts on these areas, Samsung and Google aim to digitize the supply of services and experiences. The campaign aims to optimize the connection between providers and the end consumer through AI platforms.

The campaign centers on integrating Gemini's AI capabilities into Samsung devices equipped with Galaxy AI, such as the Galaxy Z Fold7, Z Flip7, and Galaxy S25 series. The functionalities allow users to optimize experience planning by generating intelligent itineraries, accessing personalized recommendations on cultural and gastronomic offerings, and improving the creation of audiovisual content.

This content creation capability directly impacts the creator economy ecosystem. Mexico has over 3.3 million content creators, according to IAB Mexico. This segment, along with the influencer marketing market — with a potential value estimated by experts to reach US$328 million in the country — is a highly influential channel for tourism and cultural promotion. The initiative provides this sector with advanced technological tools to professionalize and expand the reach of its productions.

From a macroeconomic perspective, the project aligns with global projections on the impact of AI. PwC estimates that AI adoption could increase global GDP by up to 15% by 2035.

This collaboration also strengthens Samsung's position in Mexico, a market the company considers one of its three most important in Latin America. With nearly three decades of operation in the country, its activities extend beyond sales volume to include production and innovation. These operations generate employment and an export volume that positions Mexico as a strategic manufacturing hub for North America and Latin America.

As Goldberg says, projects of this nature "reinforce Samsung's role as a long-term economic and social actor with initiatives that generate shared value: employment, exports, innovation, and access to technology."
