Q: IBM has been a leader in technological innovation for several decades, how would you describe IBM's position in the Mexican market?
A: IBM has been operating uninterruptedly in Mexico for 98 years, consolidating its presence in the country's technological infrastructure. Although we have evolved from a B2C to B2B model, we continue to be a fundamental pillar of the digital ecosystem, as most banking transactions, online purchases, and business processes depend on our solutions. Even if we cannot see it, it’s as though the world is “powered by IBM”. Our strategy focuses on the fields of hybrid cloud and AI, ensuring–hand in hand with our Ecosystema partners—that enterprises have robust and market-ready technology.

Q: How would you define the added value that IBM brings to Mexican companies, particularly those adopting new technologies?
A: We drive the digital transformation of Mexican companies by providing technology solutions that optimize processes and increase efficiency. Our strategy is based on helping clients achieve their goals through innovative tools, such as AI, which streamline key processes such as purchasing and production operations. In addition, we strengthen our presence in Mexico through our business partners, ensuring that companies across the country have access to our capabilities and expertise.

Q: How is IBM helping its clients take advantage of the nearshoring phenomenon through the implementation of technology solutions?
A: Nearshoring requires Mexican companies to increase their competitiveness in the international marketplace, and the key to this is improving operational efficiency. We help our clients optimize their processes through advanced technological solutions that streamline decision making and resource management, focusing on enhancing their responsiveness and adaptability, ensuring that they can compete globally.

For example, the use of AI in purchasing management has allowed our clients to reduce time and costs by automating administrative processes. We have also implemented HR solutions to optimize talent selection in sectors such as manufacturing, where turnover is high. In the production area, predictive maintenance technologies, supported by AI and data analysis, have enabled companies to minimize technical stoppages and improve the efficiency of their operations.

Q: What are the main barriers that Mexican companies face when adopting advanced technologies, and how does IBM help them overcome these challenges?
A: One of the main barriers to the adoption of advanced technologies in Mexico is technical debt. According to our studies, 55% of executives identify this factor as a key barrier. Technical debt is generated when companies implement new technologies without having an infrastructure prepared for their evolution, resulting in inefficient processes and a high cost of rework. This is particularly relevant in the adoption of AI, as many organizations invest in siloed solutions without a flexible technology foundation that allows for scalability and continuous upgrades. In fact, 25% of executives acknowledge that their infrastructure is not ready to support the speed of adoption of new technologies.

We help companies overcome this challenge by modernizing their technology infrastructure, enabling them to adopt new solutions without compromising operational stability. Our approach focuses on building a flexible and scalable technology foundation that facilitates the implementation of emerging technologies with less impact on existing processes. This way, organizations can integrate AI, automation, and cloud solutions without generating additional technical debt, ensuring a sustainable and efficient technology evolution.

Q: What solutions does IBM offer to mitigate technical debt without complicating existing infrastructure?
A: Our approach uses agile methodologies to identify use cases with high business impact and accelerated ROI. We collaborate with both technology and business teams to define strategies that maximize the value of technology investments. This enables companies to adopt AI and automation with a clear vision of the benefits and without compromising their operational stability. By optimizing their use cases, organizations can allocate part of the ROI to strengthen their base infrastructure, creating a more robust technology ecosystem that is ready for scalability.

Our solutions include hybrid infrastructure and automation, combining high-performance hardware with flexible cloud environments. This facilitates modernization without disrupting operations, ensuring that companies can scale their technology efficiently. In addition, we offer a full stack of automation and AI software that enables infrastructure to be managed with greater agility.

Q: What are IMB’s short-term expansion projects in Mexico, and what new technologies will the company introduce in the country?
A: In Mexico, we aim to expand our presence beyond the largest regions, reaching more companies and industrial sector hubs that can benefit from our technology to improve their competitiveness. This effort is done through our ecosystem of partners and specialized channels, ensuring that the expansion is accompanied by the necessary knowledge for an effective implementation. Our main objective is to be closer to customers throughout the country.
