Cybercriminals are concealing sophisticated attacks in 404 error pages, aiming to extract financial data from digital users. Meanwhile, passwordless authentication gains traction as a resilient cybersecurity measure, given it integrates robust authentication methods such as biometric solutions, SMS verification, and public-key cryptography. Additionally, 91% of IT specialists view emerging technologies as a significant cybersecurity threat, arguing its implementation increases their surface attack significantly.

In Mexico, privacy concerns hinder the widespread adoption of biometric technologies in airport security.

This is the week in CyberSEC:

Mexico’s Cybersecurity Landscape

Biometrics Enhances Airport Security but Brings Privacy Concerns

Airports around the world are considering the implementation of biometric technology to optimize operational efficiency and bolster their security measures. This innovative approach not only mitigates identity theft risks but also streamlines immigration processes, expedites airport operations and significantly enhances the overall passenger experience. However, data privacy concerns could hinder its application.

Global Cybersecurity

Cybercriminals Conceal Attacks in Default 404 Error Pages

Akamai Security Intelligence Group has identified a highly sophisticated Magecart web skimming campaign with the capacity to directly inject itself into a website’s 404 error page to avoid detection. The “surprisingly” sophisticated campaign, previously unencountered, primarily targeted large organizations within the food and retail sectors. Its primary objective is the exfiltration of data, including personal and credit card information from unsuspecting users.

Passwordless Authentication Enhances Users’ Login Experience

Traditional passwords, once the sole gatekeepers of our digital identities, are no longer seen as a reliable cybersecurity method. Cyberattackers exploit the vulnerabilities of traditional passwords using techniques like man-in-the-middle attacks, brute-force methods, and even systematic attempts at every conceivable password combination to gain access into an organization’s network. To address these vulnerabilities, Minsait experts advocate for passwordless authentication, a cybersecurity approach that integrates robust authentication methods such as biometric solutions, SMS verification, and public-key cryptography.

Security Gaps in Emerging Technologies Hinders Digitalization

Organizations are eager to harness emerging technologies like 5G, AI, and IoT to enhance their business operations and drive profitability forward. However, as organizations integrate these technologies, their attack surface increases, exposing them to a growing number of sophisticated cyberattacks. A recent study by HPE Aruba Networking revealed that 91% of IT specialists view emerging technologies as a significant cybersecurity threat or acknowledge experiencing a breach following their implementation.
