Chilean furniture brand Casaideas launched an e-commerce platform for Mexico after months of operating physical stores in the country. This expansion will further establish the brand’s presence in the country and Latin America.

At the beginning of the year, Casaideas opened its first store in Mexico as a part of its expansion strategy in Latin America. The company is composed of “specialists in the home. We believe that design is for everyone, so we work thinking about the great diversity of homes and realities, seeking to respond to their different needs and expectations, always with accessibility at the center,” reads its website.

In April, Grupo Gigante, a Mexican enterprise that owns supermarkets, restaurants, convenience stores and other brands like  Office Depot, Tok's, Petco, Panda Express and RadioShack, acquired Casaideas to establish it in the country. It now has physical stores in Miyana Comercial, Parque Delta and Gran Terraza Coapa in Mexico City.

“The arrival of Casaideas in Mexico responds to one of our strategic pillars, which is the internationalization and opening of new markets. We are a brand with purpose and values, and we are sure that our unique proposal will conquer all Mexican homes,” says Alfonso Vidal, General Corporate Manager, Casaideas.

The company plans to have nine stores by the end of the year and compete with other affordable furniture brands, like IKEA.

Most of Casaideas’s furniture and decoration designs are made in Chile, close to 90%, and most of the manufacturing is carried out in Asia, though specifics are not mentioned. The goal of the expansion to Mexico is to further establish the brand in Latin America, as the country has the second largest economy in the region.

Casaideas has a special focus on sustainability and has five certifications: Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), OEKO-TEX Standard 100, Responsible Down Standard (RDS), Global Recycled Standard (GRS) and Libre de BPA.

Besides its stores in Mexico, the brand is currently operating in five countries with 40 stores in Chile, 23 in Peru, 13 in Colombia and six in Bolivia.
