Zebra Technologies Debuts 'The Modern Store' with RFID Tech
Zebra Technologies unveiled “The Modern Store”, a new approach to the traditional shopping experience, leveraging radio frequency identification (RFID) technology to streamline inventory management and personalize customer interactions by introducing them to new products in real-time.
This technology made its debut at NRF'24 Retail's Big Show in New York City, a gathering of industry leaders, innovators, and technology developers focused on revolutionizing retail sales and supply chain operations of everyday goods.
Zebra Technologies took center stage as a prominent exhibitor, presenting its futuristic vision for the retail landscape. "The Modern Store" garnered attention for its integration of RFID technology directly into shopping carts, optimizing inventory control, and store operations, and predicting peak shopping times to minimize losses while delivering smoother, more tailored experiences for customers.
The model also enhances checkout processes, offering self-checkout options that empower employees to focus on higher-value tasks and continuous learning. Additionally, the accompanying tools facilitate quick resolution of customer inquiries and issues, improving efficiency and service quality without the need for extensive in-store travel.
The technology stores personalized user profiles, offers recommendations based on purchase history, and provides restaurant-specific reminders such as food allergies or birthday greetings to enhance the overall customer journey. The system suggests complementary products based on scanned items.
Ernesto Hernández, VP of Sales and General Manager for Mexico, Zebra Technologies, highlighted the convenience for customers who can shop by scanning desired items, completing purchases, and having their shopping lists sent home at their preferred time.
