Capstone Green Energy Expands With New Microturbine Project
Capstone Green Energy is expanding its presence in Mexico with a new order for a C600 Signature Series natural gas microturbine to be installed at a packaging manufacturing facility in the country, the company announced. The deal, secured by Capstone’s exclusive regional distributor DTC Machinery, represents a step forward in the company’s growth strategy across Latin America.
The client, a long-established producer of polyethylene, polypropylene, and laminated packaging, is implementing a self-generation strategy to lower energy costs, reduce emissions, and boost reliability across its operations.
The C600 system will be deployed in a combined cooling, heat, and power (CCHP) configuration, using microturbine waste heat to support the facility’s drying ovens, improving energy efficiency and reducing reliance on the grid. “Our vision is to be the first choice when energy matters, and this project aligns so well with that vision,” said Vince Canino, Capstone’s President and CEO. “This is what we call tri-generation, the ultimate utilization of a fuel source.”
The company emphasized the sustainability advantages of the system, noting its clean exhaust, consistent temperature, and high mass flow are ideal for industrial drying processes. Scheduled for commissioning later this summer, the project reflects Capstone’s continued growth in Latin America and highlights rising industrial demand in the region for efficient, low-emission energy technologies.
