The Federal Electricity Commission (CFE) will carry out infrastructure upgrades along Yucatan’s coastline as part of broader efforts to modernize the region’s power grid. The upgrades include the integration of a new substation and improvements to local distribution lines, designed to enhance service reliability for households, businesses, and industries in coastal areas.

Temporary power outages occurred in municipalities such as Progreso, Chelem, Chicxulub Puerto, Chuburna Puerto, and nearby communities while the work was being carried out. CFE is working closely with local and state authorities, as well as business associations, to reduce the impact of service interruptions.

The utility advised residents to take precautions during the scheduled maintenance window. These improvements are part of a long-term initiative to strengthen Yucatan’s electricity infrastructure in response to increasing demand and rapid growth in the region.
