Green Tank and Beeok will measure the plastic and carbon footprints of 25 Mexican and Caribbean companies to provide advice for the management of plastic waste and greenhouse gas emissions. Green Tank is a Mexican consultant specialized in sustainability, climate change and circular economy. Beeok is a software company for sustainability, with subsidiaries in Chile, Colombia, Peru and Mexico.

The initiative considers the development and implementation of a technological tool that aims to manage plastic waste and greenhouse gasses to prevent these materials from reaching the seas and air in the region. The implemented software will have a calculator to measure the initial plastic footprint of each company’s products and services. As the project progresses, participants will be able to measure positive changes achieved through the reduction in the use and recycling of plastics. In parallel, Beeok will measure the carbon footprint of the organizations with its already available module.

Cristian Bustos, CEO, Beeok, pointed out that the project is particularly focused on the agriculture, automotive, manufacturing and food and beverage sectors. The platform will drive active collaboration between companies, including green shopping options, online training, event invitations and campaigns to promote plastic footprint reduction. In addition, it will promote the recycling of products from the agri-food, aquaculture and beverage sectors.

The initiative will be co-financed by Caribbean Circular, a project for the prevention of solid waste in the seas of Central America and the Caribbean that seeks to promote the use of technological tools to achieve a circular business model.

"We are very proud to team up with companies that share our vision and interest to promote a more responsible business style with a smaller environmental impact. This type of partnership shows the interest and commitment that the private sector shares in this matter, where technology plays a fundamental role in accelerating the transition of companies toward sustainability,” said Cristian Bustos, CEO, Beeok.

Paola García, CEO, Green Tank, highlighted that the joint project outlines the possibility of innovating and sharing knowledge and experiences between Mexico and Chile, to provide technological solutions to reduce the plastic footprint in the Caribbean region. “This initiative opens opportunity routes to promote green businesses at the local level, for the health of communities and marine and terrestrial ecosystems that currently face plastic pollution,” she stressed.
