INEEL, CENAM Sign Deal to Boost Mexico’s Energy Innovation
Mexico’s National Institute of Electricity and Clean Energies (INEEL) and the National Center of Metrology (CENAM) have signed a cooperation agreement aimed at bolstering Mexico’s capacity to develop strategic projects in energy and technology. The agreement was formalized on Sept. 3 during a meeting between senior leadership from both institutions, coordinated by CENAM and INEEL’s Mechanical Systems Division.
INEEL Director General Víctor Salcido welcomed the delegation and emphasized CENAM’s role in ensuring the quality of products and processes across industries. He noted that the alliance between both institutions can unlock new opportunities for technological development in Mexico, leveraging their combined expertise in metrology and applied research.
CENAM Director General Arquímedes Ruiz highlighted the expectations surrounding the agreement, stressing its potential to address national challenges through joint innovation projects. The partnership, he said, will also expand opportunities to participate in scientific events and strengthen Mexico’s position in the global research landscape.
The discussion underscored the importance of clear regulations and standards for emerging areas such as battery charging and storage. Participants also pointed to the value of sharing international experiences in CO₂ capture, air quality certification, and related fields critical to the country’s energy transition.
