Mexico Joins OLADE’s 2025 Energy Excellence Award Shortlist
The Latin American Energy Organization (OLADE) closed submissions for the 2025 Energy Excellence Award with 104 projects from 15 countries, including four from Mexico. The recognition, now in its second year, highlights achievements in decarbonization, renewable energy, energy efficiency and education, underscoring the diverse strategies emerging across the region to accelerate the energy transition.
Mexico is competing with four projects: Hogar Solar (Solar Home) and Alumbrado Público Limpio, Eficiente e Inclusivo (Clean, Efficient, and Inclusive Public Lighting), both developed by the Hermosillo Municipal Energy and Climate Change Agency; Eficiencia Energética Integral (Integral Energy Efficiency) from the Yucatan Energy Agency; and a school-based photovoltaic project led by Intermepro. Their participation underscores the country’s efforts to strengthen local innovation and education in the energy sector.
Entries from across Latin America and the Caribbean range from community-driven initiatives to large-scale technological solutions and education programs. OLADE emphasized that the award seeks to highlight projects with measurable impact that can be replicated in other contexts, advancing social, environmental, and economic outcomes.
The winners will be announced during the 10th edition of Energy Week 2025, one of the region’s leading forums for the energy sector. The event will provide international visibility to the selected projects and foster an exchange of ideas and experiences to drive regional collaboration in the energy transition.
