SPIC-Zuma Energía has initiated remote operations of its Generation Control Center (CCGZE) in coordination with Mexico’s National Energy Control Center (CENACE), becoming the second company in the country to fully centralize generation control under current regulatory guidelines.

The launch marks the completion of nearly three years of internal work to meet all technical and regulatory requirements, according to the company. The Generation Control Center is designed to centralize the real-time monitoring and control of SPIC-Zuma Energía’s electricity generation assets.

“This achievement represents almost three years of continuous work and collaboration across multiple areas of the company. It is a fundamental step to continue supporting the National Electric System with efficient, scalable, and transparent operations,” said Richard Xie, CEO, SPIC-Zuma Energía.

The centralization aligns with CENACE’s national strategy to modernize and digitize electricity generation operations and reinforce compliance across the sector. The company emphasized that the system enables 24/7 operations, faster response times to grid events and dispatch instructions, and more efficient use of technological resources.

According to the National Electric System Development Program (PRODESEN) 2024–2038, Mexico’s electricity demand is expected to continue rising, with peak demand forecast to reach 80,000MW by 2038. The company noted that adopting centralized digital tools is a critical component in meeting these future demands while supporting the country’s economic development.

The new model also supports improved transparency in audits and regulatory reporting and is intended to enhance system reliability and reduce operating losses. SPIC-Zuma Energía stated that the Generation Control Center will contribute to the overall resilience and efficiency of the National Electric System, positioning the company as a strategic player in Mexico’s energy transition.
