Doctoralia Uses Microsoft AI to Streamline Medical Scheduling
Doctoralia, a global healthcare technology platform, has integrated Microsoft Azure’s artificial intelligence to develop Noa, an assistant aimed at reducing administrative burdens for healthcare professionals. The technology focuses on optimizing appointment scheduling and clinical documentation, allowing doctors to spend more time with patients.
Healthcare professionals often spend up to 75% of their time on administrative tasks, limiting their availability and impacting patient care, reports Microsoft. To address this, Doctoralia created Noa with functionalities designed to automate key processes. The first feature, Noa Notes, is already operational and transcribes and structures clinical notes. Upcoming tools include Noa Booking, a 24/7 appointment scheduling system, along with automated patient registration and intelligent appointment confirmations.
The solution uses Azure OpenAI’s GPT-4 Turbo for natural language processing, enhancing the accuracy and structure of clinical transcriptions. Integration with Azure App Service, Azure DevOps, GitHub Copilot, and SignalR has supported a scalable and efficient rollout. Doctoralia also emphasizes compliance with data protection regulations, including GDPR, to safeguard patient information.
“More than 74% of professionals agree that documentation hampers patient care, and Noa Notes is helping reduce that load. Our mission is to help healthcare providers reclaim time to focus on patient attention,” said Carlos Villaverde, CEO, Doctoralia.
The platform’s deployment has shown positive outcomes. Some practitioners report an increased capacity for patient consultations without added fatigue. Currently, more than 10,000 healthcare professionals worldwide use Noa.
Doctoralia is part of the DocPlanner Group, which connects 65 million patients monthly with 2.2 million healthcare professionals across nine countries. The group manages nearly 8 million monthly appointment bookings and maintains 15 million patient reviews. Founded in 2012 in Poland, DocPlanner employs 2,800 staff globally, with offices in cities including Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Mexico City.
Doctoralia continues to explore new AI applications with Microsoft Azure OpenAI to improve healthcare management and patient experience worldwide.
