Q: What key advantages does Solventum gain from being an independent entity separate from 3M?

A: As an independent company dedicated exclusively to the healthcare sector, we gain the ability to provide superior care, develop smarter solutions, and ensure greater safety. Our mission is to prioritize people because from the moment we are born, we are patients.

Solventum is committed to advancing by aligning with the political, economic, and social initiatives of the countries where we operate. We live with heart and passion, leveraging 70 years of initiatives focused on cost-effective solutions to improve patients' lives. This dedication, building on 3M's legacy of innovation, positions us uniquely in the healthcare sector.

Q: How does Solventum envision establishing a unique brand identity separate from 3M in the healthcare market?

A: Solventum comes from the combination of "solver," which highlights our dedication to addressing the needs of the markets we operate in, and "momentum," representing the spirit of innovation. For us, this means understanding the market's need to develop technology or solutions that enhance lives. We are fully committed to understanding the health requirements and needs of the population. Through our four business groups, including Medical Surgical, Dental Solution, Purification and Filtration, and the Health Information System, we work integrally to provide comprehensive solutions and valuable health propositions.

We are proud of the 70-year legacy of 3M, and we leverage that legacy as a springboard to continue growing as a company. Our goal is to be recognized as the preferred employer, not just in Mexico, but globally.

Q: What new opportunities does Solventum see in Mexico following the spinoff, and how does it plan to capitalize on them?

A: Solventum holds 7,300 patents globally. We are currently developing an innovation and manufacturing center in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon. Our aim is to continue building on this scientific foundation, creating new solutions tailored to the realities not only of Mexico but also of Latin America.

Mexico is now the leading exporter of medical devices in Latin America and one of the top exporters to the United States. We seek to establish a strategic alliance and contribute to the country's economic growth.

Q: How does Solventum plan to strengthen its partnerships with healthcare providers and institutions in Mexico post-spinoff?

A: We are building pivotal partnerships with industry chambers, the Ministry of Economy, and COFEPRIS. These partnerships not only enhance Solventum’s relevance but also boost the entire medical device sector. These collaborations are crucial for improving working conditions and fostering economic development, ultimately providing greater access to healthcare for the population.

It is crucial for us to understand the political strategy for healthcare and align ourselves with it. Just as we contributed during the COVID-19 pandemic, we aim to support efforts in identifying the most prevalent diseases and, through innovation and development, create solutions. Solventum can contribute by developing new medical devices or by using our Health Information System to provide relevant information on costs and efficient savings for the public health budget.

Q: What does Solventum consider the most critical factors for staying at the forefront of healthcare innovation?

A: To stay at the forefront, it is essential to first understand the global trends in the sector. In the post-pandemic era, people are far more aware of their health. There is an abundance of information available on social media, and health is now among the Top 3 priorities in the political discourse.

Given these factors, companies like Solventum and others in the sector must be vigilant in listening to the population’s needs to provide effective solutions. These solutions should be accessible, cost-effective, and enhance the connection between healthcare providers, whether public or private, and the people who need them, regardless of geographical location. The key lies in understanding local needs. By identifying and addressing these needs, whether for preventive or corrective health solutions, we can turn unmet needs into realities that improve conditions and facilitate a return to economic, work, or family life.

Q: What recent innovations has Solventum introduced in its portfolio, and how have they been received by customers and the market?

A: One of the areas we take immense pride in and see as having tremendous global potential is Health Information Systems. These systems are at the forefront of AI, cost management, and patient information management. They allow us to understand diagnostic groups and predict needs based on them, while helping improve patient outcomes.

This technology is already leading development in the European Union and the United States, but we have yet to adopt it in Mexico. By focusing on the realities of Latin America and Mexico, we have the opportunity to transform how healthcare providers and payers collaborate to deliver tailored medical care to specific population groups. We often address individuals with conditions like diabetes or hypertension, but rarely consider groups with multiple conditions, such as those with both diabetes and hypertension. Adopting a population-based approach rather than an individual one will enhance our efficiency and effectiveness, ultimately benefiting entire communities rather than just individual patients by driving quality and efficiency.

Q: What is Solventum's long-term vision within the global landscape of healthcare and innovation?

A: We see ourselves as facilitators of better, smarter, and safer healthcare to improve lives. This is where we are positioning ourselves strategically. Our goals include being recognized as the best place to work, being regarded as a trusted partner, and consistently achieving performance that exceeds the top quartile. Our ambition is to be among the Top 5 global companies.

A: What are your goals and objectives for the next year?

Q: Achieving independence involves fulfilling our corporate responsibilities, which is essential. We must ensure that we operate with integrity in every country where we are present. Another goal is to solidify our identity as "solvers," fully embracing and passionately advancing Solventum’s vision and mission. Finally, while delivering strong results remains a priority, we are also focused on establishing a robust foundation to ensure we have the right structure in place for operations beginning in 2025 and beyond.

Solventum, a spin-off of 3M, capitalizes on 3M’s 70 years of experience delivering healthcare innovations. The company innovates at the intersection of health, material science, and data science.
