Q: How does GE Healthcare help clinicians provide the best patient care possible?

A: GE Healthcare works with clinicians and patients. We operate in most countries across the world, developing technology that helps clinicians serve their patients. GE Healthcare is specialized in diagnostic imaging and ultrasound, systems that provide life assistance to patients, such as monitoring systems, anesthesia respiratory equipment and also the segment of contrast media. GE Healthcare enables clinicians to better serve their patients through technology.

Q: What role does Mexico play in the company’s global strategy?

A: GE Healthcare is divided into four regions: the US, the EU, China and Intercontinental, which includes developing countries, such as Latin America and some parts of Asia. Mexico is one of the most important countries for the company in the Intercontinental region due to its active economy and steady growth.

We are developing the Mexican market through new technologies that help our clinicians and customers to serve their patients. GE Healthcare has a large footprint in Mexico, with more than 3,000 employees and a factory in both Ciudad Juarez and Monterrey and an office in Mexico City.  The company produces magnetic resonance imaging (MRIs), ECG scanners, mammography equipment, interventional equipment for minimally invasive surgery and more.

Q: What is the Edison intelligence platform and how does it open opportunities for clients?

A: The Edison platform integrates several digital and AI solutions. It enables our customers to access software and technology in a cloud-based platform, including applications from third parties. Customers can access GE applications and third-party applications, which are developed to work with GE equipment or other equipment. The Edison platform is similar to an app store for digital solutions in the medical environment.

Q: How do GE Healthcare’s digital solutions help clients to become more efficient while improving patient outcomes?

A: Digital technologies improve patient outcomes in several ways. For example, we have an AI product for MRIs that impressively improves the quality of the images from MRIs, leveraging AI and machine learning. This improved quality means that fewer patient scans are necessary, while also improving diagnostics. We can decrease the time spent scanning a patient by 45 percent. Instead of having patients minutes in an MRI for 40 , you can cut times to 20-23 minutes.

Q: How does the company adapt its global product portfolio to meet local needs in Mexico?

A: GE Healthcare has one of the industry’s largest product portfolios, which are focused on meeting the needs of a wide variety of markets. We have high-end products, a productivity portfolio and a value access portfolio. GE Healthcare adapts its portfolio according to the characteristics of the country where we operate and the specific customer needs. From productivity equipment to complex equipment, the portfolio is very well-thought-out to adapt to different market and patient needs.

Q: How is GE Healthcare prepared for its planned spinoff in January 2023?

A: These are exciting times at GE Healthcare. The company is spinning off from GE, which has a 126-year legacy in Mexico, and will go public. While it is amazing to represent a company such as GE, we are very excited about this new shift.

Operationally speaking, very little is going to change at the local level because we have always operated separately. GE Healthcare’s stock will be listed on the NASDAQ in January 2023 and we are ready to do our best in this new beginning.

Q: How does GE Healthcare invest in R&D to ensure innovation continues?

A: GE Healthcare is among the companies that invest the most in R&D, with around a US$1 billion yearly investment. We expect this investment to increase with the spinoff, since we will be more focused on healthcare. R&D represents a big portion of what we do at GE Healthcare and the company will continue to invest heavily in this area.

Q: What are the main MRI technology trends within the Mexican market?

A: In Mexico, GE Healthcare is the leading provider of MRI technologies, with the highest market share. Mexico is a very exciting market for us because it presents two different focuses from healthcare providers. The first focus is productivity, which aims to provide better healthcare access to the population. The second focus is the high-end product portfolio. We have implemented technologies in Mexico that are used in the most developed hospitals in the US and EU. We provide both access and very specialized technologies in Mexico.

Q: What are GE Healthcare’s main plans for 2023 in Mexico?

A: GE Healthcare believes in the Mexican market. We are here for the long run, so the company is investing to grow its footprint. We are also hiring different positions to continue growing. We believe that the Mexican market will continue to be strong and well positioned. From a regional perspective, Mexico is one of our top priorities.
