A new dashboard of indicators seeks to include all relevant data on the Mexican healthcare system and compare it with that of other nations. Mexico Ranks Second as Health Tourism Destination

Mexico ranks second as a health tourism destination due to its proximity to the United States, low costs, and the high quality of service provided. Over the past 10 years, the country has received 1.2 million foreign patients per year. The country ranks second worldwide after Thailand, which receives 1.8 million visitors per year. Bariatric surgery and dental and rheumatological treatments are the most requested medical services by foreigners in Mexico. Sonora is the state with the highest rate of health tourism in Mexico, followed by Baja California, Baja California Sur, Mexico City, Chihuahua, Jalisco, Nuevo Leon, Puebla, Quintana Roo, San Luis Potosi, Tamaulipas, and Yucatan, according to the National Bank of Foreign Trade.

FUNSALUD Creates a Dashboard of Indicators to Evaluate the Mexican Health System

The Mexican Health Foundation (FUNSALUD) developed a Dashboard of Indicators, with the objective of compiling data on the Mexican health system to compare it with those of other nations. The dashboard is based on information provided by international organizations such as WHO and OECD, as well as national organizations such as INEGI and the National Institute of Public Health (INSP).

Mexico Among the Countries With the Least Psychological Care

The study Age of onset and cumulative risk of mental disorders: a cross-national analysis of population, based on surveys in 29 countries, showed that the main reason why adolescents and adults visit a psychologist is violence. Experts pointed out that Mexico, despite having a high incidence of violence, is the country that offers the least psychological care, covering only 4.3% of its population. 

COVID-19 Sputnik V Vaccines Arrive in Mexico

A total of 592,000 doses of Human Vaccine's COVID-19 Sputnik V vaccine arrived at the Felipe Angeles International Airport (AIFA). So far, the country has received 4 million doses of Sputnik V in November. The doses received will be used in the National Influenza Vaccination Campaign and COVID-19, season 2023-2024, which began on Oct. 16 and ends on March 31, 2024.
