Adrián Pedrozo announced his resignation as Director General of the Mexican Institute of Water Technology (IMTA), part of the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources (SEMARNAT). Although he stepped down from his position, he expressed continued support to President Claudia Sheinbaum.

Pedrozo explained that Minister of Environment Alicia Bárcena asked for his resignation. He noted that the decision was made under the premise that organizational cycles come to an end, requiring fresh perspectives to refocus efforts and align visions.

Pedrozo expressed gratitude to Bárcena, and President Sheinbaum for the opportunity to lead the institute. He also reflected on his six years of involvement in the water sector, which began during the administration of former President López Obrador.

The announcement did not include details regarding Pedrozo’s successor or the timeline for appointing a new director. He said he would start working at UNAM’s Institute of Engineering, adding that from this position, he would continue to support MORENA’s so-called Fourth Transformation.

“President, rest assured of my loyalty to you and the movement you represent; I express my hopes that the dream of transforming public life in Mexico continues with momentum, and I wish you the greatest success in your administration,” reads Pedrozo’s post.
