Claro, a subsidiary of Mexican América Móvil, will build 66,576km of high-capacity telecommunications transport networks in Brazil, using optical fiber backhaul technology. The National Telecommunications Agency of Brazil (Anatel) has ordered the transfer of economic benefits to Claro.

This initiative is set to revolutionize connectivity across the country by providing a minimum transmission capacity of 1 Gbps end-to-end. The project includes the installation of cutting-edge Dense Wavelength Division Multiplexing (DWDM) equipment to support these high-speed transmission rates, alongside necessary physical infrastructure adaptations and backup power provisions.

Claro now holds the responsibility of selecting deployment routes. These routes will be chosen from municipalities and localities identified by Anatel as lacking sufficient telecommunications infrastructure. The selected paths must collectively span the mandated 66,576km as outlined in Brazil’s General Competition Goals Plan (PGMC).

Claro is obligated to clearly define the municipalities and localities where infrastructure will be deployed, outline the chosen routes, and specify the timeline for completion of these deployment obligations. Any projects that overlap with existing obligations of Claro, whether mandated by Anatel or other governmental levels, are strictly prohibited.
