US-based location intelligence company Esri announced the establishment of Esri Mexico (Esri MX). The company considers that this new entity will strengthen its mission to empower communities, governments, and organizations in the country through technology.
The new entity will assume all responsibilities for Esri's products and services in the country, a role previously held by its long-time distributor, Sistemas de Información Geográfica Sociedad Anónima (SIGSA). The new organization will serve industries including government, utilities, transportation, and natural resources.
The new company, Esri MX, will continue to operate under local leadership. Paola Salmán, who led the Esri business division within SIGSA for several years, will now serve as the majority owner and CEO of Esri MX. "SIGSA has been one of Esri’s most trusted and mission-driven collaborators. With the launch of Esri MX, we are building on a foundation of excellence and reaffirming our commitment to empowering communities, governments, and organizations across Mexico," said Jack Dangermond, President, Esri.
SIGSA, which has distributed Esri products in Mexico since 1980, will not exit the ecosystem entirely. The company will remain a strategic participant in Esri MX’s partner network, continuing to deliver sector-specific solutions. "This is a new chapter, one that honors the past while embracing the future. Esri MX is committed to locally tailored geospatial solutions that address Mexico’s most pressing challenges, from urban planning and environmental resilience to public safety and infrastructure development,” said Salmán.
