Section 2 of the Mayan Train will also incorporate cargo facilities, report authorities. Tickets for the Mayan Train will reportedly cost 10% less than bus fares and sales will begin on Dec. 1.
During the daily press conference, Oscar Lozano, Director General, Mayan Train, mentioned that Section 2 will also facilitate cargo transportation, which will include an operations yard to transport fuels, steel, cement, grains, perishables, and vehicles.
He adds that 315 of the section’s 325 cross-drainage works have been completed. Five viaducts and 192 of the 211 pedestrian, vehicular, and wildlife traffic crossings are also ready.
President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said during the morning press conference tickets will cost 10% less than the bus on average, but their exact cost has not yet been determined. However, López Obrador stated that the government will fulfill its commitment to offer tickets at affordable prices for locals and visitors.
