Nuevo Leon: Global Hub for Electromobility
In the first edition of America's Mobility of the Future, the governor and industry leaders highlighted Nuevo Leon’s potential to become a global hub for electromobility. Pulling from its foreign direct investment (FDI) inflow, the state is building inclusive transportation schemes to capture its potential as an innovation hub.
The global electromobility forum, taking place on June 6-7 at Cintermex, was toured by Governor Samuel García, along with government officials and electromobility company leaders. Thirty companies will showcase their latest technological advances in electromobility, intelligent transportation, renewable energy vehicles, sustainable infrastructure and logistics to over 1,500 professional buyers on a 700m2 exhibition floor.
The state government explained that the event seeks to promote technological exchange and knowledge generation, via an extensive program of conferences and panel discussions by national and international experts, who will discuss charging infrastructure and road improvement, last-mile mobility, autonomous driving, digitization, interconnected road networks and smart cities.
"Nuevo Leon is currently leading in many regional indicators: employment, foreign direct investment and quality of life. However, there is one where we are already in the lead, which is electromobility. Through our integration with North America, this is just the beginning for the great state of Nuevo Leon," said García, according to a press release.
Nuevo Leon offers to become a hub for electromobility, considering cars, public transportation, cargo and passenger trucks and all forms of rolling stock, said García. This observed potential attracted US$13 billion during the previous six-year government administration. So far, the current government has already received US$20billion in FDI.
Bernd Rohde, CEO, Italian German Exhibition Company Mexico, said that in recent months, Nuevo Leon has been in the international spotlight. “Nuevo Leon is accelerating its pace to become a benchmark in North America by building more sustainable, efficient, secure, intelligent and inclusive transportation schemes," he said.
