In the shift toward a business model driven by numbers and metrics, organizations are overlooking one of the most crucial elements for achieving greater growth: creativity, says Pamela Osornio, Managing Director, Rhenus Air & Ocean Mexico.

"Nowadays, we have countless KPIs, processes to follow, and ISO personnel keeping tabs on us to ensure we meet certain metrics. But how many of these processes are fostering creative thinking and critical thought among our staff?" Osornio questions.

According to her, companies today are fostering a culture that prioritizes following flowcharts to make decisions and generating numbers and measurements, rather than promoting creativity. But what can be done differently to change this? Osornio suggests that it is essential to empower employees to generate creative ideas and make decisions to innovate, "listening more and measuring less”.

"We have to let them make mistakes every day, but differently than the day before. When you make a mistake in something different, it means you are doing something different," says Osornio.

The Rhenus Group is a German logistics company with operations in Europe, Asia, and North and South America. The company has expanded its presence in Latin America through the acquisition of BLU Logistics and the majority stake in LBH Group this year. The German firm stated that acquiring Colombia-based BLU would extend its presence in Argentina, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Paraguay, and Uruguay, as well as in Mainland China and Hong Kong.
