Mexico's ProximityParks is expanding its portfolio to solidify its position as the largest sustainable provider of last-mile logistics parks in Mexico. Central to this expansion is the inauguration of the first educational facility within a ProximityParks project, built in collaboration with Construyendo y Creciendo, an organization focused on empowering construction workers.

This initiative forms a cornerstone of ProximityParks' social responsibility program, aiming to enhance both personal and professional development among construction laborers. "The goal of this educational facility is to promote education and literacy in partnership with Construyendo y Creciendo. We will offer free courses ranging from basic literacy to upper secondary education, as well as workshops on human development, digital skills, and more," says Mario Berlanga, CEO and Co-founder, ProximityParks.

Mexico has 9 million people employed in the construction sector. They have an average of five years of education, according to ProximityParks. This project aims to advance human and professional development to elevate the quality of life for workers and their families, says the company.

The educational facility, located within the workplace at ProximityParks Viaducto in Mexico City, will be equipped with computers, internet access, and all other necessary learning materials.

"At ProximityParks, we firmly believe in the development of individuals and in making a positive impact on the cities where we operate. We are confident that this project will contribute significantly to the social and individual progress of many workers," says Maque Taja, Head of People and Culture, ProximityParks.

ProximityParks Viaducto adds to the company's existing 13 last-mile logistics industrial parks across Mexico City, Nuevo Leon, and Jalisco, totaling over 300,000m2 of space. These facilities are not just spaces for commerce but are also designed to integrate sustainable practices such as space renewal projects, renewable energy use, water-saving equipment, and electric fleet charging stations.

The ProximityParks Viaducto educational facility aligns with the company’s company's environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy, bringing educational programs and activities at no cost to the construction workforce engaged in its projects. "We firmly believe that our industry can be a driver of economic and social development, which is why we are committed to strengthening our ESG strategy through initiatives like the ProximityParks educational facility," says Berlanga.
