Orla Mining Expands Mineralization at Camino Rojo’s Zone 22
Orla Mining provided an update on exploration activities at its Camino Rojo project, focusing on Zone 22, an extension of the previously defined resource. The company’s recent drilling resulted in holes yielding up to 31.5g/t gold equivalent (AuEq) over 2.7m, including 143.4g/t AuEq over 0.6m, which the company believes will positively influence the project’s future.
According to Orla Mining, recent drilling expanded mineralization by 800m beyond the current open-pit resource, with the zone remaining open at depth and along strike. Orla Mining completed over 32,000m of drilling in 2024, with an additional 3,000m planned by the end of 2024.
Orla Mining reported significant high-grade intersections at Zone 22, including holes yielding up to 31.5g/t AuEq over 2.7m, including 143.4g/t AuEq over 0.6m in Hole CRSX24-36C, as well as 11.2g/t AuEq over 4.5m, including 22.4g/t AuEq over 1.3m in Hole CRSX24-40A; 11.1g/t AuEq over 2.8m, including 16.9g/t AuEq over 1.5m in the same hole; and 5.68g/t AuEq over 4.9m, including 27.8g/t AuEq over 0.5m in Hole CRSX24-31.
The exploration program confirmed both steep and flat high-grade polymetallic mineralization. This includes massive sulfide zones containing gold, silver, zinc, and lead, as well as copper-gold mineralization in deeper sections. Mineralization extends 800m down-plunge and 500m along strike, parallel to a dike structure.
Orla Mining plans to release an initial underground resource estimate for Camino Rojo Sulphides in early 2025. This estimate will incorporate data from historical drilling, 2024 Caracol-hosted intersections, and part of the Zone 22 extension. “The future project will be enhanced by the Zone 22 Extension, and we continue to be impressed with the drill results. Zone 22 remains wide-spaced drilled and open down-plunge, offering significant potential for further infill and step-out drilling to contribute to both resource growth and upgrades,” said Sylvain Guerard, Senior Vice President of Exploration, Orla Mining.
Further drilling and metallurgical studies are scheduled for 2025 to refine the resource model and evaluate processing methods for different mineralization types. These efforts aim to expand and delineate Zone 22 resources to support future development plans.
