Q: How did Omnilane enter the Mexican parking lot market and what solutions does the company offer to parking owners and operators?

A: Our relationship with mobility in Mexico began in 2015, when we founded a company that digitized the valet parking model. Later, the company evolved to a technology-based mobility solutions provider. Omnilane developed and deployed a parking digitization solution in partnership with one of the most important mexican parking operators, that is used in over 40 parking lots, including both terminals of the Mexico City International Airport (AICM).

During the pandemic’s first stages, we discovered this sector’s great potential, realizing that a more complete solution was required. There are different solutions for digital access to parking lots. Omnilane focuses on digitizing processes and making parking lot access interoperable, allowing users to access numerous parking areas regardless of the platform they use. Most parking lots have to choose only one or two digital platforms. Omnilane’s comprehensive solution enables operators to partner with third parties, providing an easy-to-use tool and greater platform choices for decision-makers. This was the Omnilane’s parking solution origin.

Q: How does Omnilane’s SaaS solution improve parking lot incomes per unit area?

From there, our company grew as a software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution which drastically improves parking lot incomes per unit area. It is done improving parking management based on operational and financial data and increasing their service offer, even attracting traffic to the parking lot.

Omnilane service is built as a tailored suite. Its modules can adapt to the business of every parking lot integrating services and solving problems like:

  • Real-time operation centralization

  • Parking interoperability

  • Audit module

  • Real time parking capacity monitoring

  • Valet Parking digitization

  • Parking spot rental digitization

  • Automated invoice service

  • Incomes & Outcomes control

  • EV’s chargers

  • Bike and scooters parking

  • Advertising management

  • Space rental

Omnilane is a crucial solution to allow parking digitization and evolution as mobility and service node and a essential tool from C-level team to parkings lots managers, passing through audit, data analysis team and customers.

Q: What additional challenges do Mexican parking lot operators face?

A: Besides interoperability, several Mexican parking lot operators face more basic issues. Some of them do not know exactly how much they invoice monthly and have long, impractical data processes that leave them exposed to human error.

Data visibility is key. Omnilane is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) and parking customer relationship management (CRM) company. We unify operational and financial data to make all processes related to the parking lot’s operation transparent, improving management and opening new business opportunities.

Q: How does Omnilane help parking lots to become more profitable and broaden their business opportunities?

A: Omnilane allows parking lots to increase profitability thanks to the data transparency that allows us to detect opportunities for improvement, in addition to opening doors to new business opportunities.

Parking lots are no longer just for parking a vehicle. They have become a hub for mobility and other types of services, including dark kitchens, last-mile delivery areas and warehouses. Parking lots can be monetized in many ways and Omnilane can present owners with these opportunities through transparency and the unification of data sources.

Q: What are the main strategies implemented by Omnilane to enter the market?

A: Digital access to parking lots and digital payments in Mexico are still at low levels, around 67% below industry average. One of our company's objectives is to rise it between 20% and 25% in the next two years.

The market has a small number of players and everyone knows each other. We approached the market as a experimented technical company but with humility and honesty, explaining that we are not here to take away business from anyone but, rather, to grow everyone’s business. Omnilane’s strategy implies building good relationships with every rol involved in the industry, from owners and operators to machinery manufacturers and the businesses within the parking lot.

Q: What success cases would you like to share from Omnilane’s client portfolio?

A: Omnilane successfully digitized the parking lot operation for a second-hand vehicle marketplace giant. The company is present in several shopping centers across Mexico, renting spaces within parking lots for its evaluation areas and sales branches. This creates many operational problems for both the second-hand vehicle company and the parking lot. A customer can enter with a car, leave with the same car, walk out or even leave with a different vehicle. Omnilane digitized this operation, offering transparency to the parking lot operator, who was not aware of how many vehicles entered and exited the facility.

In addition, Omnilane offers an Autotraze service that connects with government servers to rapidly obtain information associated with a vehicle, including theft, any fines associated with a vehicle, insurance and all other traceable data. This data is especially valuable for the second-hand vehicle market.

Q: How does Omnilane work with mobility companies to increase parking payment options?

A: Omnilane does not only provide solutions for traditional parking lot operators but also for mobility companies that are not necessarily involved in the parking business. For example, we have agreements with electronic toll companies, such Televía, to provide their users with access to parking using the same tag they use to drive on the highway. Through our integration platform, owners of parking lots can open their doors to millions of additional users to enter their establishment.

Q: What are Omnilane’s main plans for the near future?

A: The interoperability of urban highways in Mexico is already happening. However, there is still a lot to be done to improve this sector. Omnilane is working to offer additional payment options for urban highways, such as mobility applications or PayPal and Apple Pay. Through our integration solution, highways will be able to offer several additional payment options in the near future.

Q: What role does Omnilane want to play in the transformation of the parking business?

A: The parking industry is finally changing. It is a sector that has been static for decades. Some parking lots still operate with equipment from the 1980s, just because “it works”. Whether we like it or not, the industry is changing. As we know, what cannot be measured cannot be improved and what cannot be improved deteriorates.

In the modern world, data converges everywhere and not measuring it and taking advantage of it is a mistake. Omnilane seeks to democratize data analysis within the parking lot industry.

Omnilane offers a technological solution that improves parkings economic performance by integrating operational and financial data sources, while increasing their volume and service offering.
