Sulzer Chemtech Urges Pemex to Settle MX$528M in Overdue Invoices
Swiss engineering firm Sulzer Chemtech has demanded that PEMEX settle more than MX$528 million in overdue payments for work carried out across the National Refining System (SNR), according to Proceso.
In a letter identified as SULZER57-25 and addressed to PEMEX CEO Víctor Rodríguez, the company urged the immediate settlement of 40 overdue invoices, some pending for as long as 15 months. Sulzer warned that continued non-payment is critically affecting its ability to supply essential materials and services for ongoing projects with the company.
“The lack of payment is compromising our capacity to continue supplying the inputs and services necessary for the projects currently under execution with PEMEX,” the company wrote.
Sulzer emphasized that without payment, it cannot guarantee the operational continuity of the combined plants at several refinery sites, nor compliance with environmental and contractual standards, including Mexico’s NOM-001-SEMARNAT-2023 regulation.
The letter, signed by Sulzer Chemtech Sales Manager Eugenio Flores Gómez Murray, called on the NCO to issue immediate payment for the 40 overdue invoices, totaling MX$528.4 million, related to the supply of internal components for distillation towers within the SNR. The company also requested a clear payment plan to regularize outstanding debts.
Sulzer’s work for PEMEX has focused on critical upgrades at the Minatitlán, Salina Cruz, Cadereyta, and Tula refineries, where it has supplied key components for crude oil processing and modernization of distillation systems, projects central to Mexico’s efforts to boost refining capacity and reduce fuel imports.
