Detention of  Ismael “El Mayo” Zambada. Minister of Security, Rosa Icela Rodríguez, explained that the United States was informed that Joaquín Guzmán López would surrender to US authorities and enter US territory on July 25 at 10:30 AM. At 2:35 PM, the United States received information that Guzmán López was on a flight to the United States, and at 2:40 PM, they were informed that Ismael "El Mayo" Zambada might also be on the flight.

Ródriguez detailed that the flight landed at 4:24 PM at the Santa Teresa Airport in El Paso, Texas, where US authorities detained the two passengers upon landing. The Mexican government was notified and received photos confirming the detainees were Guzmán López and Zambada. A federal investigation in Sonora was opened to examine potential crimes, including the aircraft's origin and destination.

Rodríguez stated that the Mexican investigation would include statements from lawyers and witnesses and would continue until the events surrounding the detention of Zambada and Guzmán López were clarified. She reiterated that the Mexican government did not participate in the arrests and assured that updates would be provided truthfully and transparently.

Mayan Train Operations. General Oscar Lozano, Director, Mayan Train, reported on the operations of Section 3. He noted that Section 3 has transported 73,143 of the 276,825 passengers served since the Mayan Train began operations. Lozano highlighted that the highest number of tickets sold in a single day was on July 21, 2024, with 2,919 tickets sold. This high demand indicates the need for the opening of two new trips, totaling eight new trips once implemented.

Manuel Muñozcano Castro, Director General, Grupo Azvindi Ferroviario noted Section 3 was in charge of Grupo Azvindi and Grupo INDI, generating more than 35,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Manuel Barlett, Director, CFE, presented a video detailing CFE's participation in the electrification of the Mayan Train’s 1,554km track. Of this, 690km will be electrified, representing 44% of the total track. The installed electric infrastructure covers an area equivalent to the combined surfaces of the Netherlands, Denmark, and Switzerland, according to CFE.

The electrification project comprises 53 major works, including 11 transmission lines and 42 substations. Additionally, the project includes 556km of mid-tension lines and 6,000 light poles. CFE also constructed the Nachi Cocom photovoltaic plant with a capacity of 7MW, which will supply energy to the electric buses and IE-Tram units connecting with the Mayan Train in Uman and Teya in Yucatan.
