Housing Program for Baja California Sur. The Housing Program for Well-Being aims to create 1 million new homes and deeds across Mexico. The initiative was launched in Baja California Sur through an agreement signed by President Claudia Sheinbaum, Víctor Manuel Castro, Governor of Baja California Sur, and Edna Vega, Minister of Agrarian, Land, and Urban Development. This project targets 37,500 new homes in the state and will serve both government program beneficiaries and non-beneficiaries.
Violence in Guerrero, Guanajuato. Omar García Harfuch, Minister of Security and Citizen Protection of Mexico, reported that yesterday, the criminal group Gente Nueva was involved in a confrontation with another criminal group in Tecpan de Guerrero, known as Los Granados. Meanwhile, in Guanajuato, explosives and car bombs were used, resulting in three police officers injured. The confrontation is attributed to the Guanajuato Cartel and the Jalisco Nueva Generación Cartel. “These attacks are not classified as terrorism, as they are not driven by ideological motives but rather concerns and disputes over drug and hydrocarbon trafficking,” explains García Harfuch.
Legislative Progress on Women's Protection. The Senate is reviewing reforms aimed at enhancing protections for women, including equal pay legislation, explained President Claudia Sheinbaum. These will be forwarded to the Chamber of Deputies for further consideration. The Ministry of Women is focusing on preventing sexual assault and ensuring zero impunity for such crimes.
Investor’s Role in Achieving Well-Being. “Investor support is essential to achieve the goal of creating well-being, not just investment,” says President Claudia Sheinbaum. Baja California Sur is experiencing both national and foreign investments, and those who invest are expected to contribute to shared prosperity, explains Sheinbaum. While growth is important, it is equally vital to ensure fair wages for workers so they can secure decent jobs and access housing and services.
