Relation with the United States. Following her first meeting with US President Donald Trump, Sheinbaum said the bilateral relationship is positive, emphasizing cooperation without subordination. She noted that Mexico must maintain a strong relationship with the United States, which is home to 40 million Mexicans, and that agreements are preferable to confrontations.
“This relationship should be guided by principles, without subordination. Since February, we have made clear that coordination, respect for our sovereignty, and respect for our territory are key,” she stated.
Record Employment Numbers. Zoé Robledo, Director, IMSS, announced that formal employment reached a new high with 22,837,768 registered jobs. In November alone, 48,595 new positions were created, and in 2025 so far, 599,389 jobs have been added, reflecting an annual growth rate of 2.7%. “These employment figures show strong performance, with the latest report indicating the highest number of formal jobs ever recorded by the IMSS,” Robledo noted.
No New Extraditions of Cartel Leaders: Sheinbaum. Claudia Sheinbaum stated that, at present, there are no plans for a new mass extradition of criminal leaders to the United States. She explained that when an extradition request is made for someone without an arrest warrant in Mexico, the person is typically deported. Otherwise, the standard extradition process is followed.
