US–Mexico Cooperation. As US Secretary of State Marco Rubio visits Mexico, President Claudia Sheinbaum announced that both countries will hold a cordial meeting to review the achievements of their joint security strategy, framed within mutual respect for sovereignty. The two nations agreed on the Cooperation Program on Border Security and Law Enforcement, which emphasizes collaboration without subordination. The agenda will also cover the situation of Mexicans living in the United States, along with trade and broader cooperation issues.

Mexico Bans 35 Hazardous Pesticides. Mexico has issued a decree banning the import, production, commercialization, and use of 35 highly hazardous pesticide molecules, marking the country’s most extensive prohibition of this kind to date, explained Julio Berdegué, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development. According to Berdegué, this is the first stage of a broader strategy, with additional groups of pesticides expected to be restricted in 2026 and 2027, coupled with stricter regulations for those that remain in limited use.

Coffee for Well-Being Empowers Small Producers. María Luisa Albores, Head of Food for Well-Being, presented Coffee for Well-Being, a program supporting 6,646 small-scale coffee producers in Oaxaca, Puebla, Veracruz, and Guerrero, many of them Indigenous communities. Nearly 40% of Guerrero’s coffee systems are now part of the initiative, with women representing a significant share of producers. The program ensures fair pricing, direct purchasing, and promotes agroecological practices through the Sowing Life program.
