Square Energy JV Enters Mexico with Solar, Wind, Storage Plans
Square Energy—a joint venture between Mexico’s Solventa Energía and Spain’s Circle Energy—is entering the Mexican market to develop large-scale solar, wind, and storage projects. The alliance aims to strengthen Mexico’s renewable energy infrastructure while providing industrial clients with integrated clean-power solutions.
“Square Energy was created to deploy generation parks and channel flexible capital to ease national grid congestion,” said David Sánchez Jasso, CEO, Solventa Energía. Pablo Moralejo Romaní, Country Manager, Square Energy, added that Solventa offers “strategic collaboration” through its strong presence in Mexico and shared vision with Circle Energy.
The venture combines Solventa’s experience in self-consumption markets with Circle’s expertise in global utility-scale projects. Their model enables corporate clients to adopt onsite solar or hybrid solar-gas solutions, achieving up to 30% savings on electricity bills while advancing ESG objectives.
Focusing on under-served regions, Square Energy plans projects in northern, central, and southern Mexico, targeting areas where grid development has lagged.
