The National Council for the Standardization and Certification of Labor Competencies (CONOCER) will continue advancing certification programs aimed at creating real opportunities for women in Mexico, according to the organization’s Director General Guillermina Alvarado. The primary goal of these initiatives is to provide women with greater opportunities for training, improve their access to well-paid jobs, and encourage their participation in sectors traditionally dominated by men.

During a recent event, Alvarado presented the Accreditation Certificate as a Certification and Evaluation Entity to the State Institute for Women of Nuevo Leon (IEM), as reported by Mexico’s Ministry of Public Education (SEP). This move strengthens one of the 100 commitments outlined in the Second Level of the Fourth Transformation of President Claudia Sheinbaum, which seeks to create a republic for and by women, explained Alvarado.

As part of the event, Alvarado and Miriam Hinojosa, Director, IEM, presented 123 certifications to women in three key areas, including childcare and development services in Childcare Centers (CAI), electrical installations in residential buildings, and entrepreneurship skills for women beneficiaries of IEM programs. This new approach aims to make labor certification a viable option for improving individuals’ lives, particularly women’s lives. Certifying women in these fields helps break down cultural barriers that have traditionally limited their participation.

"This is further proof that women have the capability, talent, and determination to excel in any field they choose, contributing to the social and economic development of their communities," said Alvarado.

Hinojosa underscored the importance of empowering women in Nuevo Leon to pursue training that opens doors to better career opportunities in professional fields that have traditionally been male-dominated. She also emphasized the IEM’s commitment to collaborating with the Mexican government on programs benefiting women. Through these efforts, CONOCER is reinforcing its role in advancing gender equality and creating pathways for women to succeed in diverse professional fields.
